The Commissioning Process

 

First things first...

If you are looking for a guitar and you are thinking of having an instrument commissioned for you, congratulations.  You are among an elite group of discerning players.  “Elite” and “discerning” don’t necessarily mean expert.  It means someone who knows the value of quality tools in whatever they do.


One of the common mistakes beginning guitar makers (or their parents) make is assuming an inexpensive instrument will be a good way to decide if they want to commit to guitar playing.  Unfortunately, more often than not, this leads to failure.  Not by virtue of enthusiasm or by lack of talent, rather it is because it is ONLY the expert player that can elicit music out of a poorly constructed guitar.  For more on guitar buying advice, please read my article in the blog section entitled Guitar Buying
